Post Mortem

A photographic account of heavy music in Portland, Maine

PHOTOS: Local boys make good: OGRE opens for Dinosaur Jr.

OGRE was so loud, Asylum sold out of ear plugs.

We know because we tried to buy some.

Holy shit, those riffs are measured in megatons.

OGRE opened last night for Dinosaur Jr. — a nice pairing of loud with loud/soft/loud. As old bastards here at Post Mortem, we have a deep, abiding affection for the ‘90s and the remnants of memory we’ve carried since then. Dinosaur Jr. evoked the era sweetly, calling to mind mix tapes, road trips and carefree tobacco use. Good stuff.

Tonight, Pigboat, Sylvia and Mindset X are playing Geno’s Rock Club, 625 Congress St. 10 p.m. 7 bucks. (Here’s the story behind Pigboat’s new album, ICYMI.)

Full-resolution photos are here. If you borrow these images for Facebook or whatnot, please credit us. (Watermarking sucks and we don’t wanna do it.) Also, don’t crop or alter.

Despite all this, we’re not monsters.
