Post Mortem

A photographic account of heavy music in Portland, Maine

PHOTOS: Hessian, Blood of Kings, Eastern Spell and Manic Abraxas

Last night, Hessian proved the time-honored adage: Practice makes perfect.

After 13 consecutive days of touring on the West Coast, the Portland four-piece was in top form at Geno’s for their CD release party with tour mates Blood of Kings, plus Eastern Spell and Manic Abraxas. Our postmortem is below.

Hessian and BoK depart today for Worcester, Massachusetts, where they’ll play with Holy Filth and Seax. Afterward, they’ll do another 1o nights in 10 states, traveling as far south as North Carolina and west to St. Louis.

Hessian will return to Geno’s on Oct. 3 with Pigboat and Johnny Cremains for Guitar Grave’s 10th anniversary party.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Tonight is a pretty big deal. Grime Studios is throwing a benefit show to raise funds for its proposed new location on Presumpscot Street. Sylvia, Superorder, Capture the Sun and Dour will be there. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and costs 8 bucks. If you cannot attend, please consider making a contribution to Grime’s Indiegogo page. Also give ’em a like at their new Facebook page.

Despite all this, we’re not monsters.
