A photographic account of heavy music in Portland, Maine
Photos and words by guest contributor John Macy
Led Zeppelin came alive last night for a near-capacity crowd at Empire.
The show, “Whole Lotta Love: A Tribute to Zeppelin,” kicked off the new year with more than 25 Zeppelin hits, performed by singer Jya Marie, guitarist Scott Girouard, bassist Jon Blake, drummer Jason Ingalls, keyboardist Sam Conlogue, and several guests.
It reminded me that great music is owned by no one. And great songs — no matter how old — are timeless; all they need are talented musicians to breathe life into them.
Last night, Marie, Girouard, and the rest of the band, did just that.

Yes, we’re monsters.
